The Eye Clinic - Department of Clinical Science “Luigi Sacco” – University of Milan (MIL) is a recognized center of excellence for the diagnosis and treatment of vitreo-retinal diseases. More than 16000 visits and instrumental diagnostic tests for retinal pathologies are performed every year, including diagnosis and treatment for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and vitreo-retinal diseases that requires retinal surgery, such as macular holes and epiretinal membranes. The clinic hosts the School of Ophthalmology of University of Milan, and it is strongly oriented towards the education and research. About 12 international multi-center clinical trials for evaluation of new therapies are performed in the clinic. Another important field of interest is the research on new experimental imaging modalities and instruments, like spectral-domain optical coherence tomography, angio-OCT, digital angiographies and autofluorescence.
